Alex Place

Alex Place (M.S. student) has been busy since coming to the Louse Lab in January, 2018. Her project involves isolating and describing the previously undiscovered mtDNA minicircles of the chewing louse, Geomydoecus aurei. This summer Alex completed description of the ATP6 and COX3 minicircles. She is closing in on the Cytochrome b minicircle too.  Her techniques involve a mixture of PCR, cloning, DNA sequencing, and genomic analysis.
